Located in Kullu district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, Hampta Pass trek stands at an altitude of 4279 meters (14400 feet)  and lies on Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas. The base point of the trek is a beautiful resort town Manali (Rambagh Circle). Hampta Pass trek is an irresistible trek which is known for awesome landscapes,  tricky but worth-the-visit terrains, postcards like snow-capped mountains, enchanting water streams, lush green farmlands and massive variety of flora and fauna. This 30 km long trek can be covered in 20 hours.

How to get there-

The base location of the Hampta Pass trek is Manali (Rambagh Circle), which is well connected with Delhi and Chandigarh and the rest of the major cities of India. You can either take a train or bus to reach Manali from Delhi and Chandigarh and other cities. The way to this beautiful Hampta Pass goes through thick forests of pines and oaks, rivers and barren landscapes of Lahaul Spiti. You will get to see the postcard-type sceneries of pine trees, deep gorges, meadows, sheep flocks, waterfalls, glaciers and streams. Trekking to Hampta Pass is a wonderful thing. Here you can have a camping experience as well, under the starlit sky.

By Road: Manali is well connected to all the major cities of India. You need to take a bus from Delhi or Chandigarh to reach Manali.

By Rail:  Joginder Nagar railway station is the nearest railway station to Manali, which is at a distance of 166km. From this railway station you can take a bus or hire a cab to get to Manali.

By Air: Bhuntar airport is the nearest airport which 52km away from Manali. After reaching the airport you can opt for local transportation or take a cab to reach Manali.

Difficulty level

The difficulty level of the Hampta Pass trek is considered as easy to moderate. This trek can be undertaken by an 8 year old child to a sixty five year old man. The trek has something to offer for each age group. Hampta Pass trek does not require any prior trekking experience. If you can walk 3 to 5 km in the plains in a single day, the trek will not seem difficult to you at all.

Advisory

  1. Do not litter here and there. keep your surroundings clean. Instead of throwing the waste here and there, keep it in a plastic bag and throw at an appropriate place.
  2. Pack light to enjoy to the fullest, walking with ease without any strain.
  3. Carry all your necessary medications with you along with basic medicines that are required for mountain sickness, motion sickness, anxiety and other possible situations.
  4. Consumption of Alcohol, Drugs and other toxic substance is not advisable.
  5. Please take care of your own luggage. If possible lock your backpack during the travel.
  6. Do not smoke. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the trek.
  7. Carry warm clothes irrespective of seasons. As the weather there isn’t constant.
  8. Always carry some go-to snacks to munch upon like energy bars, protein bars and other snacks to fuel your energy.
  9. People with any kind of physical ailments are advised not to come on the trek.
